$338M Powerball Winner Shuts Down Bodega

New Jersey Powerball winner Pedro Quezada has reconsidered his plans to keep open his small grocery story after winning last week’s $338 million jackpot.

“He won the lottery, he doesn’t want to work,” Quezada’s brother, 38-year-old Carlos Queszada, told the New York Post. “He’s planning to travel and have fun in life. He wants to enjoy the money. I think with all that money you shouldn’t have to wake up and work. Would you stay out here?”

Queszada’s Apple Deli Grocery in what was described as a low-income area of Passaic, N.J., had a “For Sale” sign on Wednesday, according to the newspaper.

Jeffrey Brito, a family friend, added that the media attention had made it difficult for Queszada to remain in the neighborhood.

“He said he couldn’t stay here,” Brito, a barber, told the publication. “He said, ‘No bro. I gotta get outta here, because of the media.’”

Quezada’s son, Casiano, reportedly opened the store on Monday only to close it when a CNN crew showed up.
