The U.S. government – not President Donald Trump, mind you, mostly the National Institutes of Health – has once again let us down and left us unprepared for crisis, according to former Amb. Raymond Flynn on Newsmax TV.
"I've thought that the United States – I'm not talking about any particular president or any particular party – but I've thought that the United States should have been better prepared for the medications and for the medical attention that they needed in a time of a major catastrophe," Flynn, the former U.S. ambassador to the Vatican and former mayor of Boston, told Monday's "Greg Kelly Reports."
There is a lot of money put into medical research but it just has not prepared us enough, Flynn added.
"We have to be a little bit better prepared so we don't get caught off guard as a country," he added to host Greg Kelly. "And I'm not talking about Trump, and I'm not talking about any other person, party. I'm talking about just the institution.
"I wish we were given a little bit more attention by our politicians to the area of being prepared in the unlikely event there will be a major medical catastrophe like we're experiencing now."
