The reporter who wrote the debunked Rolling Stone article on the gang rape of a University of Virginia student has been "terminated" by the magazine, according to court papers filed this week.

According to a report in  The Daily Caller,  documents from the defamation lawsuit brought against Rolling Stone by UVA associate dean Nicole Eramo last year, reveal the status of the article's reporter, which, up to now,  has been kept under wraps.

"Rolling Stone is no longer working with Sabrina Rubin Erdely and has terminated her contract," according to the documents filed in U.S. District Court of Western Virginia.

Eramo has claimed that Rolling Stone defamed her in Erdely's November 2014 article, "A Rape on Campus."

The article reported claims by Jackie Coakley, a former university student, about a 2012 gang rape on campus.

Erdely's status with the magazine had not been disclosed in previous filings, the Daily Caller reports.
