The criminal conviction and sentencing against President Donald Trump ally Roger Stone was an "outrage" and happened because of members of the deep state who wanted to "get a return on the president," Trump attorney and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani told Newsmax TV on Tuesday.
"You know they actually framed him with a false black ledger, that is now proven beyond a reasonable doubt to have been falsified by Ukrainians and members of the Democratic National Committee," Giuliani told "Newsmax Now," adding he would have been fired as an assistant U.S. attorney if he had used the tactics used on Stone and against former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
Meanwhile, he said Hillary Clinton was investigated for "something far more serious and than the garbage they investigated Trump for, which turned out to be nothing. None of her people were indicted. They were all given immunity. Nobody was indicted or try to flip anybody."
But with Stone, who was indicted through special counsel Robert Muller's probe into Russian involvement in Trump's 2016 election, or with former Trump aide Paul Manafort, who ended up in "solitary confinement," things were different, Giuliani said.
In Clinton's case, there was "the guy who hammed the 13 cell cellphones," and the bleaching of her cell phone server, all of which should have brought charges, Giuliani said.
"Only organized criminals and money launderers do that," he said. "She was so guilty it was obviously a fix, and the fix was didn't conduct a real investigation."
And the deep state mentality still exists under Attorney General Bill Barr, according to Giuliani, as shown by the four prosecutors who recommended Stone be sentenced to 7-9 years in prison.
"They all worked for Mueller," Giuliani said. "I'm sure they were all Democrats. I'm sure they're all Trump haters."
