A petition to fire the Secret Service agent who wrote on Facebook she would rather face "jail time" than take a "bullet" for President Donald Trump has been started by the spouses of other agents, the Washington Examiner reports.
The spouses have requested anonymity for fear of retribution against their husbands and wives, according to the website. But they claim the special agent in question, Kerry O'Grady, of the Denver district office must go.
"We, the undersigned, are family members and concerned citizens who are urging the leaders in the US Secret Service to act now and terminate . . . Kerry O'Grady from the duties she boldly stated she will not perform," the petition says.
"She has lost all credibility with the agents, their families and the American people that pay her salary. US Secret Service agents are the defenders of democracy.
"Ms. O'Grady stated she will not defend our democracy. Her statements show an incredible lack of judgment that cannot be tolerated so close to the heart of our government."
As of Tuesday, the petition had collected 488 signatures.
Grady, the special agent in charge of the Denver office, had been placed on paid leave after her Facebook post about Trump, according to the Examiner.
