Rapper and TV personality Snoop Dogg, who has never hidden his disdain for President Donald Trump, has been quietly working with a pair of activists with connections to the White House in an attempt to convince the president to commute the sentence of Death Row Records co-founder Michael "Harry-O" Harris, the Daily Beast has reported.

Alice Johnson, one of the activists working on the case and a criminal-justice reform advocate whose life sentence was commuted by Trump in 2018, said, "I've been told that President Trump is aware of the case and has been reviewing it."

Harris, who is almost 60, has spent some three decades in prison on attempted murder and cocaine trafficking-related charges.

"Snoop brought this case to me, and I brought Alice Johnson on board to help it with me, and she brought it to the West Wing," activist Weldon Angelos, a former music producer and federal prisoner who was pardoned by Trump last month, said. "In the past, the president has given her the ability to select cases. And she doesn't get [clemency for] all of them . . . but with Mr. Harris, she is not taking no for an answer."

Snoop Dogg once said he would leave the U.S. if Trump was elected – and even filmed a music video in which he pretended to shoot a clown dressed as the president, the New York Post reported.

But Johnson said the rapper asked her to tell Trump, "I appreciate what you've done for some of our brothers, even if you don't release Mr. Harris."
