A majority of sports fan say they won’t attend a game until a coronavirus vaccine is available, according to a new poll by Seton Hall Sports Poll.

The results show that nearly three out of four Americans would not attend a game if play resumes before a vaccine is developed.

Other highlights from the poll include:

  • 74% thought it was possible, likely or very likely that sports would be canceled for the rest of 2020.
  • 70% agree the NFL should not start in the fall if social distancing is continued to ensure players safety.
  • 59% think professional teams have an obligation to pay daily arena and stadium workers for time missed because of the coronavirus.
  • 76% percent believe sports shut down at the right time.
  • 76% would watch broadcasts of the games with the same interest as before if fans were not present.

The Seton Hall Sports Poll was conducted by the Sharkey Institute within the Stillman School of Business. The poll was conducted from April 6-8 and surveyed 762 people. The poll has a margin of error of 3.6 percent.
