Starbucks Hit With Boycott After Pledging to Hire Refugees

On Monday morning, the hashtag #BoycottStarbucks trended the highest on Twitter, in the wake of a pledge by Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz to hire 10,000 refugees.

Twitter users slammed the company, according to Fortune. 

While President Trump is working to get Americans jobs, Starbucks CEO wants to hire 10,000 refugees.

Supporters of the coffee chain said they would continue to buy products there because of the support for refugees.

The chain was already hiring 10,000 veterans and active-duty spouses as part of a pledge to hit that number by 2018, Fortune reported.

The hiring of refugees will begin with those who have worked with U.S. troops, according to Schultz in a statement. 

"We will start this effort here in the U.S. by making the initial focus of our hiring efforts on those individuals who have served with U.S. troops as interpreters and support personnel in the various countries where our military has asked for such support."
