Some of the late-night hosts mocked President Donald Trump on Tuesday after he hurled insults at them earlier in the day, The New York Times reported.
Trump told the New York Post in an interview published Tuesday that both “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert and “Late Night’s” Seth Meyers are unfunny, adding that Meyers is “a no-talent comic” and “nasty.”
Trump later sent out a tweet lauding Fox News host “Greg Gutfeld, a one time Trump Hater who has come all the way home. His Ratings easily beat no talent Stephen Colbert, nice guy Jimmy Fallon, and wacko ‘last placer’ Jimmy Kimmel.”
Colbert slammed the president in his monologue, saying “It’s nice to know that Trump is staying laser-focused on the ball during a crisis.”
Kimmel also used his monologue to lash out at the president, musing that "Wacko last placer" was maybe "another typo situation. I think what he meant to tweet was, ‘I am completely devastated by the loss of life caused by this insidious virus. My thoughts are with the families of those who have passed. I pledge to spend every waking moment working to make sure our medical workers have the support they need and every American has access to tests.”
Kimmel continued to mock the president, who earlier in the day visited a mask factory, where he didn't wear a mask despite signs requesting everyone to do so.
“I love that they didn’t turn the volume on the Guns N’ Roses down even one notch,” Kimmel said. “I can think of no better metaphor for this presidency than Donald Trump not wearing a face mask to a face mask factory while the song ‘Live and Let Die’ blares in the background.”
