Steve Forbes: Obama Waging War on Coal, Vital Fuels

By    |   Monday, 29 July 2013 04:54 PM EDT

Forbes magazine editor Steve Forbes says President Obama is waging war on oil, gas, and coal and instead favoring "medieval technologies like windmills."

The former presidential candidate asserts in an exclusive interview with Newsmax TV that "the president of the United States, unfortunately, still does not like oil, gas, and coal. He's waging war on all three of them.

"And the great fracking boom that has led to the great boom in natural gas, huge advances in terms of hydraulic drilling that's led to an oil boom, all of that happened in spite of the obstacles of the administration.

"But look at what comes out of the EPA and other government agencies. They still are anti-traditional energy, so I don’t think this guy is going to approve the Keystone pipeline anytime soon, if ever. That has the spectacle of having to deliver oil via trains instead of by via pipelines and not updating refineries the way we should and having these crazy rules in terms of refining gasoline, ethanol, that unnecessarily raises the price.

"All of those things can be cured pretty quickly but we have a president who thinks the future lies in medieval technologies like windmills, which are the greatest bird killers ever, and railroads, which is a 19th century technology, and other things, including the sun, which hasn’t worked out very well.

"None of these things are going to meet the needs of the marketplace in terms of moving goods and services and creating energy, but this guy's addicted to the past and if you want a windmill energy source, you're going to have a windmill economy."
