"Stranger Things" star Noah Schnapp has addressed the controversy surrounding his views on the ongoing Israel war on Hamas.
The actor took to TikTok to explain his "thoughts and beliefs have been so far misconstrued from anything even close" to what he believes.
Schnapp did not explain specifically what incident he was referring to, but shortly after the Oct. 7 attacks, he called out followers on social media who appeared to support Hamas' actions in Israel.
In a now-deleted video, he said he was "afraid… as a Jewish American," according to Deadline.
Weeks later, another video emerged in which he and friends were seen laughing and holding up stickers with slogans such as "Zionism is Sexy," the outlet further noted. Shortly after, people called for a boycott of Season 5 of "Stranger Things."
In his new video, Schnapp shared his hopes hostages taken Oct. 7 who are remaining in Gaza will be returned and there will be "an end to the loss of innocent life in Palestine," adding he wanted "to one day see those two groups live harmoniously together in that region."
"I only want peace and safety and security for all innocent people affected by this conflict," Schnapp added in the video.
"I've had many open discussions with friends of Palestinian backgrounds. Those are very important conversations to be had and I've learned a lot. We all hope for the same things ... Anyone with any ounce of humanity would hope for an end to the hostilities on both sides."
Schnapp added people online should show more "understanding and compassion."
"We are all human and we are all the same, and we should all love each other for that and support each other and stand together… and stand together for humanity and peace," he said.
