A coronavirus superspreader event at Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is responsible for 86 coronavirus infections, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The report showed that 51 of the cases occurred between people who attended the rally, while 35 contracted the virus after making contact with the infected attendees in social settings and at work.
The rally in Sturgis, South Dakota, took place between Aug. 7-20 and took in over 460,000 attendees. Images from the event showed attendees not wearing masks and standing close in distance.
The research showed that the ''findings support current recommendations for mask use, physical distancing, [and] reducing the number of attendees at gatherings.''
