Twitter users are warning women not to do TikTok's silhouette challenge nude or in their underwear because some people online are using an app to remove the filter and see more than intended.

The silhouette challenge revolves around the subject dancing in front of a camera to the tune, "Put Your Head on My Shoulder," by The Platters. Some women are completely nude, wearing very little clothing or in lingerie, but a red filter covers them.

A search on YouTube turned up results of tutorials instructing people how to use editing software to change the contrast and color to reduce the silhouette effect. BuzzFeed News said some Twitter users and Redditors also shared instructions on how to remove the effect.

"Just make sure you're being cognizant of what you're wearing before you do all the editing for the final product," one poster says on TikTok.

"Men are currently removing the vin rouge red filter from the silhouette challenge," one Facebook user posted. "This is readily happening across social media with little community violation response by Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, or TikTok.

"When reminded that this is gross, creepy, and non-consenting, men respond that women are always finding ways to make themselves victims and they shouldn't have been naked on the Internet. Yes, the same men going through extraordinary lengths to be creepy are finger wagging women about what they shouldn't put on the Internet."

Reddit banned one subreddit with instructions and Twitter suspended two accounts.
