President Donald Trump has accepted an invitation to be an honorary chairman of the Presidents Cup this fall, according to the Golf Channel.
"It is a great honor for me to be even a small part of the Presidents Cup. I have watched it since the very first tournament in 1994. It gets better with age. This will be the greatest of them all," Trump said in a statement, CBS Sports reports.
Trump will be the 11th world leader to serve as honorary chairman since the founding of the event in 1994.
Former President Barack Obama was honorary chairman in 2009 and 2013, the only world leader to hold that distinction twice. George W. Bush was honorary chairman in 2005, Bill Clinton in 2000, and George H.W. Bush was honorary chairman in 1996, according to the Presidents Cup website.
The Presidents Cup will be held at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, N.J. from Sept. 28 through Oct. 1 of this year.
