A Thanksgiving turkey is going to cost a little less this year, around $1.36 per pound, down 3 cents from last year's holiday feast, according to the American Farm Bureau Federation, as
cited by Forbes.com Monday.
A 16-pound turkey will cost $21.76, down 47 cents from 2012.
The decline is due to higher turkey production and birds in cold storage, according to the AFBF, which sent 167 volunteer shoppers in 34 states to check prices.
Some of the traditional fixings are down in price too. A dozen rolls, green peas, and box of stuffing were also down by 15, 12, and 10 cents respectively.
However, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie mix, and a gallon of milk, were up between 7 and 21 cents.
A turkey and sides for 10 people will total $49.04, about $4.90 per person, down 44 cents from 2012.
