Preparation for the construction of the wall along the southern border has actually made it easier in some places to cross into the U.S., Business Insider is reporting.

The Insider attributed its information to sources based along the border in Arizona.

Contractors have blasted new ravines through mountains to make way for still unbuilt portions of the wall. In addition, they have built access roads for heavy machinery.

The sources said the work has created easy paths, where there once was none.

Laiken Jordahl, described as an environmental campaigner, said: "The pure idiocy of this administration will likely end up facilitating new cross-border smuggling routes in places that were once so rugged nobody crossed."

And John Darwin Kurc, an anti-wall activist, said he now sees border agents intercept crossings "all the time" in places that once were quiet.

He singled out the mountainous Guadalupe Canyon area some 30 miles west of Douglas, Arizona.

The plan by the Trump Administration is to eventually block these routes with the wall. But President-elect Joe Biden has vowed to stop construction on the barrier after he takes the oath of office.

Customs and Border Patrol maintains wall construction will continue until the new administrations tells it otherwise.

President Donald Trump is set to make an appearance in Texas on Tuesday to highlight his administration’s work on the wall. He will mark the completion of 400 miles of border wall.
