The Washington Post has placed on leave a reporter who came under fire for participating in a liberal conference last November, CNN reported.

Post national desk reporter Janell Ross attended a private gathering that drew Democratic lawmakers and liberal activists, including the billionaire benefactor George Soros — and her return to the newspaper is viewed as unlikely, CNN reported.

The Post declined to comment.

According to CNN, the liberal gathering California was hosted by Democracy Alliance, and featured strategy sessions and panels, including one Ross sat on that focused on "getting the economic narrative right."

Ross' involvement was first reported by the conservative Washington Free Beacon.

Other media outlets followed.

"Ross presents herself and is presented by the Post as an objective journalist," Breitbart wrote in November.

And a Fox News headline read: "Washington Post reporter caught plotting liberal agenda with billionaire George Soros."

At the time, the Post said it was unaware Ross had taken part in the panel, and that she had been reminded of the newspaper's policy that "discourages participation in any activity that could be perceived as partisan," the CNN reported.
