White House Official to Testify After GOP Subpoena Threat

By    |   Wednesday, 11 May 2011 01:09 PM EDT

Score one for Republicans. The White House’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has agree to send an official to testify at a House Oversight Committee hearing Thursday after committee chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., threatened to issue a subpoena, The Hill reports.

Issa and Small Business subcommittee Chairman Sam Graves, R-Mo., made the threat after OMB Director Jack Lew refused to testify at the hearing, which will focus on a draft executive order that makes federal contractors reveal their political contributions.

The OMB has chosen Daniel Gordon, its administrator for federal procurement policy, to appear.

“OMB made the correct decision in reconsidering its previous refusal to attend Thursday’s hearing. I look forward to Administrator Gordon’s testimony,” Issa said.
