The widow of a murdered St. Louis County police officer has accepted President Donald Trump's invitation to attend his joint address to Congress on Tuesday, KTVI-TV reports.

Elizabeth Snyder confirmed the news on Facebook.

Her husband, Officer Blake Snyder, was shot on October 6 after responding to a disturbance call, The Washington Free Beacon reports. He died of his injuries at the hospital.

Presidents typically have guests in the gallery section who have a connection to the agenda they present to Congress, and stopping violence against police was a major part of his campaign.

Trump proclaimed himself the "law and order candidate" after the attack in Dallas that killed 5 officers in July.

"The attack on our Dallas police is an attack on our country," he said. "It’s time for our hostility against our police and against all members of law enforcement to end and end immediately right now."
