Radio Free Asia is reporting claims from a source that funeral homes in Wuhan, China are cremating people alive in an effort to rid the area of coronavirus.
The allegations come from a source known only as “Ma.” RFA said it has been unable to independently confirm the claims.
"One old lady was saying that they put one guy into ... a body bag when he wasn't even dead yet, and took him off to the crematorium because there was no way of saving him," the source said, according to RFA.
"Some people are saying that ... there are video clips of screams coming from funeral homes, from inside the furnaces ... which tells us that some people were taken to the funeral homes while they were still alive."
According to the Taiwan News a video has surfaced of a Chinese woman describing patients being bound in body bags and cremated while still alive.
Meanwhile, relatives said they are discovering objects in urns that do not belong to their relatives, according to RFA. One reportedly found a man’s belt buckle in an urn said to be filled with her mother’s ashes.
Wuhan’s funeral homes are reportedly working non-stop and some crematoriums have stopped working due to the heavy demands, RFA reports.
"In the past, only one body would be cremated at a time, but now they are working 24/7," the source said.
The coronavirus is believed to have originated in Wuhan.
